Welcome

GREETINGS TO LEGIONNAIRES OF THE 3rd DIVISION:

American Legion Monument
Bexar County Justice Center
San Antonio, Texas

Sunday July 14, 2019 was a very special day for me as I took the oath of office to be your 3rd Division Commander for this next year. With that oath comes a tremendous amount of responsibility in leading the members of the six districts that make up the 3rd Division; the largest of the four within the Department of Texas. I am ready for this challenge.

As we begin the 101st year of our great organization, it is important not to forget our past while also looking forward to how we each can improve the future. We all know membership has continued to decline over the past decade. So what do we need to do to “right this ship”? I feel that we need to think “outside of the box” and come up with some new initiatives. Please let me know regarding any ideas that you may have.

The 3rd Division fell short of goal for the 2019 membership year as did the other three divisions. We can improve the 2020 membership year by working together from the post level up. Let’s not pretend that this will be easy because it will not. It will take a collective effort and commitment. It’s time to rededicate ourselves and remember why we joined The American Legion. If you need assistance please contact me as I stand ready to help in any way I can.
